Scenes in the Square Celebrates Five Years of Cinematic Magic

20 March 2025: For over a century, Leicester Square has been synonymous with film and entertainment. It is globally renowned for hosting star-studded red carpet premieres—yet only a select few get to experience them. When Scenes in the Square first took shape, the vision was clear: to merge movie magic with the square itself, creating a destination where all visitors and film lovers could connect with the rich entertainment heritage of the area, at any time.

In 2020, this vision became a reality. Scenes in the Square was launched by Heart of London Business Alliance, with the support of Westminster City Council, transforming the space into an immersive, award-winning celebration of cinema. Since its launch, the trail has welcomed over 100 million visitors, cementing Leicester Square as a cultural landmark.

From Wonder Woman to Indiana Jones, the trail has brought legendary characters to life, creating moments that engage the public, drive footfall, and generate significant media impact. Over the past five years, Scenes in the Square has delivered:

  • 1BN PR reach
  • 950+ pieces of press coverage
  • 100+ TV features
  • 55 national print pieces

Beyond its cultural significance, Scenes in the Square provides an unparalleled platform for brand engagement, connecting film studios, businesses, and the public in a meaningful way.

In 2024, the public had the opportunity to shape the trail for the first time, voting for the next film moment to be commemorated. The result saw BAFTA and Oscar-winning actor Daniel Kaluuya take his place in Leicester Square, with his iconic Get Out performance now part of this permanent tribute to cinema.

Looking ahead, the next phase of Scenes in the Square will introduce new characters, fresh experiences, and strategic partnerships—further reinforcing Leicester Square’s position at the heart of London’s entertainment district.
