Westminster’s Night-Time Economy: New Strategy Launched
12 March 2025: Westminster City Council has launched its After Dark Strategy, setting out a vision for the borough’s evening and night-time economy. It identifies key priorities to create a safe, inclusive, and thriving city after dark:
- Safety and Peaceful Homes – Tackling crime, anti-social behaviour, and noise disturbances.
- Accessibility – Improving public spaces, transport, and infrastructure.
- Cultural Accessibility and Community – Supporting Westminster’s diverse cultural scene, including LGBTQ+ venues and community-led initiatives.
- Economic Opportunity – Helping businesses and night workers thrive while balancing growth with community wellbeing.
- Environmental and Biodiversity Sustainability – Promoting eco-friendly practices and protecting biodiversity.
Many of these priorities align with HOLBA’s Evening & Night-Time Economy Strategy (2023), which champions a balanced approach—supporting businesses, enhancing safety, and improving the visitor experience to ensure Westminster remains a world-class destination after dark.
A thriving, safe, and diverse night-time economy is crucial to Westminster’s success. We’ll be consulting with our members in the coming weeks to gather feedback and shape a comprehensive response, ensuring businesses’ needs are represented.
