24 October 2025: We are delighted to announce we’re bringing a brand-new statue to Leicester Square’s Scenes in the Square trail. Bridget Jones - Helen Fielding’s beloved heroine brought to life by Academy Award® winner Renée Zellweger – will take her place among cinema’s greats this November.
Already attracting international media attention ahead of its unveiling this November, the statue marks almost 25 years since the film Bridget Jones’s Diary became a global sensation, redefining modern romantic comedy and showcasing London as a backdrop in Bridget’s story. Standing alongside icons like Harry Potter, Batman and Mary Poppins, Bridget captures the humour, heart and independence that continue to shape the city’s creative spirit.
The Scenes in the Square trail, delivered by Heart of London Business Alliance, Discover Leicester Square and supported by Westminster City Council, offers a free, family-friendly experience celebrating 100 years of movie history in Leicester Square, the home of film and entertainment.
Kirsty Tullett-Jones, Director of Marketing & Communications, Heart of London Business Alliance, comments: “Bridget has been making Londoners laugh, cry and feel seen for 25 years. With family, action, adventure and horror all currently featured in the trail, it was about time we added a Rom Com statue to the line up, so we’re thrilled that Bridget is finally getting her rightful place in Leicester Square."
