The Met’s Autumn intensification plan for the West End starts today

The Met’s Autumn intensification plan for the West End starts today

Monday 3 November: From this week, over 100 police officers will be deployed as part of the Met’s Operation Baselife, a proactive operation, to reduce key offences such as theft from person, retail theft, robbery, violence against women and girls (VAWG), and violence against the person.

This is not in response to a specific incident. It is a period of action as part of the Autumn intensification plan for the West End, as the area enters one of its busiest periods.

Officers will be working in micro-beats, deploying at the specific times and places where offences are most likely to occur. Alongside visible patrols, covert activity will also be taking place to target offenders and deter criminal behaviour.

Businesses are asked to share any local intelligence, emerging concerns, or feedback with your dedicated neighbourhood teams.
